Travis McKinzie, DVM, Joins PVH Large-Animal Ambulatory Team

Published on July 18, 2017

Please help us welcome Dr. Travis McKinzie to Pilchuck! He has joined the large-animal ambulatory team

Dr. McKinzie comes to us from Kansas, where he practiced veterinary medicine for 20+ years. (His wife, Laurie, is originally from our area, so after more than two decades of Laurie following him ... he’s now followed her to Snohomish.)

We’re very happy to have Dr. McKinzie on the PVH team!

More About Dr. Travis McKinzie

Growing up on a farm in southeast Kansas, Travis McKinzie was around a variety of animals. He was actively involved in both 4-H and FFA. Riding horses has always been a special interest. After receiving his degree in veterinary medicine in 1993 from Kansas State University, Dr. McKinzie was an associate in mixed-animal practice for three years before purchasing Regional Veterinary Service in Oswego, Kansas, near his hometown of Altamont. He practiced mixed-animal medicine there for 18 years. Although the practice was about half cattle, Dr. McKinzie considered himself a “case hog” on the horse appointments! Dr. McKinzie joined Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital as a large-animal ambulatory practitioner in May 2014. He has a special interest in equine dentistry. Away from his veterinary practice, he enjoys working with his own horses, especially trail riding, and spending time with his family. He feels rewarded working with 4-H horses, being able to keep some of the older horses going and having a purpose in their senior years.
