July 23, 2013 – Snohomish, Wash. – Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, a leading provider of equine and small-animal veterinary care in Western Washington, announced today that Liana Wiegel, DVM, has joined the hospital’s equine ambulatory department.

Dr. Liana Wiegel grew up riding paint horses around the corn fields of southern Wisconsin, where she was born and raised. She received both her B.S. and DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to joining Pilchuck as an associate ambulatory equine veterinarian in 2013, Dr. Wiegel completed her hospital and ambulatory internship at the Snohomish hospital.

Her professional interests include equine dentistry, reproduction, lameness and emergency care. Dr. Wiegel also particularly enjoys treating alpacas, llamas and other small ruminants. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs and her horse and kayaking.

Dr. Wiegel said about her new position, “I am excited to continue to work at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital because I love how passionate the people in this area are about their animals and their care. It makes for a great environment to be a veterinarian, plus you can’t beat the scenery!”

Founded in 1963, PVH is celebrating its 50th anniversary of providing veterinary care in the Puget Sound community.

Pilchuck’s equine ambulatory department offers comprehensive wellness and preventive care, including routine vaccinations, fecal tests/deworming and nutritional assessment/hay analysis. PVH’s ambulatory practitioners are based from the hospital facility and work closely with the in-hospital veterinarians to provide patients with exceptional care. Pilchuck’s ambulatory veterinarians have direct access to in-hospital equipment and resources, including an on-site pharmacy and state-of-the-art laboratory. The ambulatory vehicles are fully equipped to handle routine and emergency veterinary care, allowing PVH to bring the expertise of its veterinary staff directly to farms and ranches. In addition to its equine field services, PVH has an equine referral hospital.

With the addition of Dr. Wiegel, Pilchuck will again offer scheduled equine appointments on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., for client convenience. Call 360.568.3111 to reach PVH equine reception for appointment/schedule details and for 24/7 emergency care.
